Our Commitment to Reconciliation

At My Living Options, we recognise the deep and continuing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country, culture, family and community.

We acknowledge the rich history, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recognise their important place in Australia’s past, present and future.

We are committed to building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and contributing to a more inclusive Australia where everyone feels valued, respected and supported.

Acknowledgement of Country

My Living Options acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and communities where we live and work.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise the continuing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, family and community.

We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who access our services, work with us and contribute to our communities.

What Reconciliation Means to Us

For My Living Options, reconciliation is about more than recognising Australia’s history. It is about building meaningful relationships, listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and taking practical steps towards a more inclusive future.

We aim to:

  • Build respectful and genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
  • Recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements
  • Create an inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people feel welcomed, respected and valued
  • Listen to and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Encourage greater awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures within our organisation
  • Identify opportunities to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and community groups
  • Consider reconciliation in the way we develop our services, workplace practices and community partnerships

Creating a More Inclusive Future

We believe meaningful reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires commitment, learning and action.

As a disability support provider, we understand the importance of providing services that respect each person’s culture, identity, values and lived experience. We are committed to creating an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access support in a way that respects their cultural needs and choices.

We will continue to listen, learn and look for opportunities to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Walking Together

Reconciliation is something we can all contribute to.

At My Living Options, we are committed to taking meaningful steps towards respect, understanding, inclusion and equality, while supporting a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised, valued and empowered.

Together, we can help create communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong, participate and thrive.
